Reflections on the Stewardship Theme
for 2008
- Living Bread: Food for the
Hungry Soul -
Our lives are an on going
story of growing, making and sharing. We grow our education, we grow our
careers and we grow our families. Once we have grown the things we feel
necessary for a full life, we still need to make something with what we have
grown. We want to accomplish something. Once we are employed we want to make a
contribution, make a “difference”. We want to make a good home for our
families and a good foundation for our children.
But, perhaps the most fulfilling and most Christ-like of all these
involvements is what we share. It’s in the sharing that everything we have
grown and made becomes important. What we do for ourselves only matters to God
if it makes a difference to someone else.
Our love and compassion for one another are felt through our gifts of time,
skills and our accomplishments. Our pledge this year is to give of the bread
each of us has made - a little piece of something we grew, a piece of us.
