The supplies and goodies that St. Thomas had collected to help an Afghan Village has finally arrived at their destination. These were the results of the "Help an Afghan Village" collection proposed by Mike Luft back in April while he was on temporary command duty in Afghanistan. The collected items remained at Travis AFB awaiting shipment as a low priority item long after Mike had returned home. Mike suggested to the Vestry that we can circumvent the long delay by paying the postage and sending the items via the US Postal Service. The Vestry concented to Mike's request and the packages arrived within 3 weeks. The pictures and a "Freedom Watch" military newspaper article describes the arrival of the care packages and the joy of the children in receiving them. Mike Luft is referred to as the "previous Commander" in the article. |
