Centennial Event - Vision Workshop with Bishop Mary, October 1, 2011
The workshop was held in Cowans Hall where we were gathered into small groups
of six around each of nine tables. We started out with Morning Prayer in which we discussed the selected
reading, the 'Parable of the Sower' as we looked at the seeds that we were asked to bring.
Next, Bishop Mary had each of the groups reflect on and present what they felt was the 'Composition of
the Soil of St. Thomas'. Following that was another round of reflections and presentations on 'What
were the Core Crops and What Didn't Grow'. The morning session ended with a procession to the sanctuary
where we had the blessing of the new 'St. Thomas Icon' and Eucharist. After the lunch break, we were
instructed to do a short quiet retreat with minimal or no talking before resuming. In the wrapup session
each group reflected and presented what they felt were "New Crops that St. Thomas Should Plant". Bishop
Mary concluded the workshop by instructing us to look over the list and select 'Five New Crops' to focus on
for future endeavors.
