Sunday School and Nursery Programs at St. Thomas

St. Thomas is a smallish church with even smaller Sunday school classes!  Each of our Sunday School classes offers a carefully selected, developmentally appropriate curriculum.

Sunday School is held during the 10:30 am worship service, after which most students join the congregation for the Passing of the Peace and Communion.  Children’s and Youth’s Sunday school and the nursery are located in the Education Center, behind the sanctuary.

Visitors and drop-ins are always welcome!

Ages 0-3 – Nursery

We have an amply stocked nursery for our members and guests ages three and under.  Our nursery care provider, Tina Carrion, has extensive experience with small people, and will take good care of you child.  Parents who wish may come and collect their wee ones for the Communion.

Preschool- Grade 1

Older three-year-olds through 1st Graders are invited to the Heart Classroom, where they learn from a narrative program based on The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd   Stories are illustrated with Gretchen Wolff Pritchard’s beautiful Beulah Land Bible Stories in Felt

Grades 2-5

Upper elementary students meet in the Treasure classroom, where they use the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum. This curriculum focuses on introducing students to the Old and New Testaments, Sacraments, and the church.  Teachers use prayer, discussion, and art to explore the week’s lessons.

Junior High

Our Junior High class meets in the Disciples Room and utilizes a curriculum designed by its teachers to emphasize scripture, liturgy and basic theology.  Junior High students spend occasional Sundays in worship instead of class, in order to learn about the parts of the service.

Senior High

Our Youth Sunday School program meets in the Youth Room.  This class also has a teacher-designed curriculum, which follows the basic format of the Episcopal service and encourages discussion and reflection.
