Mel Hoffman

Mel - Treasurer

Treasurer (Emeritus)

Mel and his wife Ruth have been parishioners at Saint Thomas since 1963 and the parish was indeed fortunate for his expert and loyal service as our Treasurer between 1994 and 2014, benefiting from his experience as a certified public accountant. Prior to his retirement from the corporate world, Mel was Director of Taxes for Ampex Corporation, then a large multi-national firm in Redwood City, California.

Mel received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University in 1950 and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1952. He also earned an M.S. in Taxation degree from Golden Gate University (San Francisco) in 1986. For many years he served as Treasurer and as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Stuttering Association.

More recently, he was Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of the International Stuttering Association (ISA). Presently, he is a member of the ISA Advisory Board. Mel and Ruth live in Sunnyvale. They have two adult children and five grandchildren.
